Testing the Teacher


Dateline's Dennis Murphy reported on the controversial "Teacher Competency Test" in California that, according to state records, a disproportionate number of minority applicants are failing. A judge this fall that the teacher competency test does not discriminate against people of color. The teachers and civil rights groups involved in the suit are appealing.

How well would you do on this teachers' exam? How hard is it? Take this short version sample test to see how you would rate.

Math Test

Instructions: Each of the questions or incomplete statements below is followed by five suggested answers or completions. Select the one that is best in each case.

The following information is for your reference in solving some of the problems.

Circle of radius r: Area=pi × r²
