Cat Rescue and Relocation Program

What is the cat rescue and relocation program?

Like many universities, the University of Central Florida is home to a large number of stray cats.  Although some are relatively tame, and even friendly, most are "feral". Feral cats are wild animals that fear humans and can be dangerous to us, if provoked. The rescue program was formed to better the lives of these cats and protect students. Through donations and fund raising we pay for the cats to be spayed and neuterd by certified veterinarians at reduced costs, about $15 per male and $25 per female.  In addition to controlling the population explosion, CAA makes sure that the cats are fed and receive medical attention when needed. CAA needs volunteers to help cats find homes through the Cat Rescue and Relocation Program. If you want to help out with the trappings or feeding of U.C.F. cats contact us through email. CAA also needs volunteers for wildlife rehabilitation and other animal assistance programs.

How YOU can help?

The university will take action against the cats if they become a "problem". They become a problem
when they overpopulate or when they bite or scratch a student. Help prevent both. To help CAA:
  1. Make donations to the Cat Rescue Program. All money goes directly to sterilizing the U.C.F. cats.
  2. Adopt a cat. Some are tame and would love to have a home.
  3. Don't try to pet or handle the cats on campus! They may bite or scratch you and thus become a "problem."
