| Barbara E. Truman Welcome! |
At UCF, I am the Director of a unit called Course Development and Web Services (CDWS) within the Division of Information Technologies & Resources. My position involves leading a dedicated team of professionals, who provide Web support for online teaching, learning, research, and operational excellence.
I think of myself as a strategist, then a change agent, and finally an administrator with a background in instructional design and publishing. My degrees were obtained as a single parent on government assistance doing any meaningful job I could along the way and perhaps because of that challenge, figuring out technologies seem exciting to me. I salute all students trying to improve the quality of life for themselves and their families.
eLearning can provide better ways to engage students and their entire families in lifelong learning. I also know that all faculty are nontraditional students in need of support that technology can provide.

As a former Air Force wife, I am also fascinated with high-performance aircraft, military history and strategy. I lived two years at Andersen AFB on Guam from '82-84 where we sometimes confused the B52s with earthquakes as planes flew low and slow overhead. I also lived at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho from '84-90 where EF111s flew overhead daily painting the skies. I really enjoyed living among mission-oriented people who were committed to a belief in duty, honor, and service, always poised ready to perform their best.
A lasting quote:
One must not always think so much about what one should do, but rather what one should be. Our works do not ennoble us; but we must ennoble our works.
