MST Program Admission and Enrollment

 Admission

  • Regular admission requires a 3.0 or higher GPA in the last 60 hours of undergraduate work, a 3.0 or higher accounting GPA, and a minimum GMAT score of 520. Applicants who meet two of the three admission thresholds and who are close to meeting the third admission threshold are sometimes considered for academic provisional admission. The GMAT exam is waived for graduates of AACSB schools with a 3.5 or higher GPA in the last 60 hours of undergraduate work and a 3.2 or higher accounting GPA.

Enrollment and program requirements:

  • May register online. The system does not recognize that prerequisites have been taken at other universities or if the course was taken here but has a different number from the course listed in the catalog.
  • Only  5000 level courses are open to non-degree students. 5000 level course are open only to students who had a 2.75 or higher GPA in the last 60 hours of undergraduate study and who had  a B or better grade in the undergraduate prerequisite. Non-degree students register after regular students and classes may be closed.
  • Holds for overdue library books, health form, parking tickets, etc. must be taken care of before you can register.
  • If you do not attend for two consecutive regular semesters, must apply for readmission.
  • Nine hours is full-time.
  • May transfer in a maximum of 9 hours of graduate courses from other institutions or from post-bac status. 
  • Courses may be no more than 7 years old at graduation. 
  • By the end of the term prior to graduation, complete intent to graduate form.
  • Early in the term you plan to graduate, sign up for oral examination.

Grade requirements:

  • B average is required. No more than 2 grades below a B. 
  • If admitted provisionally, may not make any grade below a B during first 9 hours.
  • If reverted to provisional status because of grades, must raise average to B in next 9 hours, and may not make any grade below a B during those 9 hours.

Florida CPA exam requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree plus 30 hours (generally that is 150 hours).
  • 36 hours of accounting after principles including coverage (probably meaning at least one course) of financial, cost, audit, and tax.
  • 39 hours of business including a minimum of 6 hours of business law.
  • 75 hours of upper level business and accounting.
