Rules/Format
  • Each player will play against each player in his pool. After preliminary matches, players will be ranked from 1-4. Top two players will advance to semifinals where top player of one pool will play the 2nd best player in the other pool. Winners of semifinals will advance to final (Rank 1-2) and losers will play for Rank 3-4. Bottom two players in each pool will play matches in the same format as top two players.

  • Walk-over time is 30 minutes.

  • If match was played: 3 Points for each Win, 1 Point for Loss. If match was not played (walk-over): 3 Points for each Win, 0 point for Loss

  • Players will be ranked in the following order: maximum number of total points, winner in head-to-head matches, more number of wins, most average game-points difference (ADP = (For_Pts - Agnst_Pts)/ #_Games).

  • Each match will be on best-of-3 basis. Players will change courts at the end of each game and in the middle of third game. Finals will be on best-of-5 basis.

  • Each game will have 15 points. If both players have 14-14, game will continue to 17 points.

  • If you did not pay the entry fee (i.e., fee for buying shuttles), please make sure you have enough feather shuttles for all your matches.

  • Note: This event is scheduled during open recreation hours and is subject to availability of badminton courts at that time. Open recreation hours are the hours during which any student, faculty, or staff can play Badminton. If the courts are busy at the time of the event, we will wait until the courts are available.
