- SL Myst -

All the books were openable, using the page flip sounds straight from Myst

The gateway images were animated and a music loops played for the duration of the flyby.
For the Myst Book in particular, the loop would play and once the flyby stopped,
the idle wind loop would play. Clicking the gateway image close the book and played
the link sound effect (the best sound Ever!)

To animate an object's surface in SL, one has to set up each frame as I did here.
It can be any X number of frames by any Y number of frames, then a script handles
those values and displays each frame at a chosen rate. This had to be done for
every book

I would have eventually included each speech from the prison books but as they are now,
the red and blue books play only static, and the green book plays a short clip of Atrus
asking if you've brought the page, and to come to D'ni

While replicating the Ages of Myst I realized... the Selenitic Age has no book. So of course,
I had to build the entire rocket ship. And I was determined to make it functional

The front door slides open on touch with the door sound from Myst.

The sliders lit up when clicked, and an organ note could be heard depending on where you dragged
the sliders on the console. The lever could be pulled and the sequence would play however it was
set. If it was set correctly, the viewer would flicker on.
For the viewer in the ship, I had to upload 3 animation textures: Small flicker of static, the loop
of the book that plays until the user clicks the screen, and the loop of the flyby until the screen
is clicked again, at which point the screen turns off and the link sound effect plays.

Each key looped an organ note when held down.

This was where I had to stop. The fountain itself is very unfinished but the plaques were completed.
Standing in front of a constellation plaque made the sound that would play in-game if you hovered the
mouse over it. This would also give it color, red or green, whichever it was. Clicking made the click
sound and changed the color.
In the background you can see a very large replica of the chimney code panel. Each square was animated
on touch and played the sound. This was also left unfinished.
All in all though.. I had a great time working on this, and it brought back so many old feelings and memories,
for me and for others. So I'd like to take this opportunity now to..
Thank you, Robyn
for Myst!
