
Charles (Charlie) Spears married Mattie Walls in Liberty, Mississippi and to this union three children were born: Mamie Spears Ford, Francies Spears McNair, and Lillian Spears Williams.
Charles then married Bertha Avery and to this union thirteen children were born: six boys - Curtis, L.B., Otis, Charles, Albert and Glenn. Seven girls - Lucille Spears Johnson, Julia Spears Jolly, Georgia Spears Ashcraft, Myrtis Spears Roberson, Louise Spears Beavers, Ruth Spears Moore and Ahmed Spears Whittaker. The family moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1924.
Charlie was a fun-loving father who was well known for his "Escape from Mississippi" stories. He lived to be 99 years old.
