Psi Omega - The Founding
Alpha Phi Omega was brought to the UCF campus on December 2, 1974 with the first pre-charter meeting. The first on-campus rush began on January 20, 1975 and the first brothers were inducted by the Tau Mu chapter (our Big Brother Chapter at USF in Tampa). On November 22, 1975 the Psi Omega chapter was chartered on the UCF campus, making Psi Omega the 10th Florida chapter and 576th national chapter. The chapter was rechartered in 1982 and celebrated its 30th birthday in 2005.
The Fraternal System
While Alpha Phi Omega is a fraternity in name and nature, we differ from the normal "fraternity" in some ways. We are co-ed, meaning both male and female members can join, however all members are referred to as "brothers" of the chapter. New members are still referred to as "pledges" and they get a "big brother" to help them through their pledge semester. Our social events are called "fellowships" and we wear jerseys that identify the fraternity letters, chapter letters, and our membership number within the chapter, as well as a personal nickname from our big brother. The end of the semester banquet is where the traditional exchange of jersey and paddle takes place between big and little brother. Psi Omega holds true to the national policy against hazing, as well as the university policies for hazing, membership, and right to assemble as a registered organization of the university. Due to our laws in our national constitution, we do not have a chapter house, however that allows us to be the cheapest fraternity on the UCF campus!
Psi Omega Today
2007 marked a big step in Psi Omega's lifetime. We succeeded on re-writing our entire Constitution and Bylaws, as well as restructuring our officer positions. Our active membership this semester features graduate and undergraduate brothers from all different majors including mathematics, hospitality, foreign language, education, digital media, psychology, and more. Our service plans this semester include several eco-friendly events like recycling drives, green walks, and more. We are also helping staff and support several "walk for the cure" events, as well as doing several holiday-related projects like Casselberry's haunted house and making decorations for medical facilities for the upcoming seasonal parties.

Beyond Psi Omega
Psi Omega strives to maintain close relationships with the neighboring chapters at USF, University of Tampa, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and Florida Institute of Technology. We always welcome visting chapters with open arms, couches to crash on, and imprompteau journies to Downtown Disney or CityWalk! We are proud to have sponsored the Alpha Delta Nu (Embry Riddle Aeronautical University) and Alpha Gamma Rho (Florida Institute of Technology) chapters during their chartering process.
